Job Description

The ‘Cane Navigator will provide student success services, including advising, to support undergraduate student retention, progression, and graduation. This team plays a vital role in helping students navigate their academic path, overcome obstacles, and achieve their goals. This position reports directly to the Assoc./Asst. Director of Cane Navigation and works collaboratively with all academic programs within the assigned school/college as well as other campus partners. Core job functions include providing student success services, serving as the primary contact for assigned students, educating students on co-curricular and experiential learning opportunities, identifying barriers to student success and facilitating referrals, employing best practices in advising, building relationships with students, explaining academic policies, providing information on services and resources, guiding academic planning, developing and monitoring degree plans, troubleshooting registration issues, monitoring academic progress, partnering with academic and non-academic units, using technology to manage student success, achieving unit benchmarks, interacting with parents and families consistent with FERPA, participating in training and student events, adhering to policies, and performing other duties as assigned. Core qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field, 1-2 years of experience in advising, counseling, or customer service preferred, and strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
