The Digital and Technological Transformation team is looking for a professional with an academic background in business and technology and a working experience of a minimum of 10 years, with a good understanding of the qualitative challenges and benefits that digital transformation can drive as a propelling force to build competitive advantages for private sector businesses. She/he will report to the Head of Digital Transformation and will work closely with Climate Change; Gender, Diversity, and Inclusion; Sustainable Businesses and MSME and Public Private Partnerships teams.

The Advisory Service division through its Digital Transformation unit is built by design to create differentiating digital capabilities in IDB Invest’s strategic cross-cutting themes, and the professional selected is expected to be one driving force to conceptualize and define innovative technological solutions at market level, as well as at client and at transactional level.

The candidate for the Products and External Services Consultant role shall have an analytical mindset, ability to improve knowledge transfer to maximize development impact, good communication skills (oral and written), have a proactive and self-starter attitude and enthusiasm to contribute to accelerate technology supported sustainability solutions. International working experience in the Latin America and Caribbean region helping leading companies drive digital transformation programs, will be an asset.

The Advisory Services Division sits within the Strategy and Development Department. Our Advisory Services Division works closely with the Investment Segments divisions to enhance our value proposition beyond financing, through advisory services and technical assistance. The Digital Transformation unit is a dynamic team dedicated to unlocking the potential of digital solutions to tackle unique challenges and create new opportunities that can be adopted across all sectors. Our overarching mission is to fuel economic development and improve prople’s lives across Latin America and the Caribbean by empowering the private sector. We work at market, client, and project-level to accelerate and align efforts towards building and actively contributing to an inclusive and sustainable recovery in our region.

What you’ll do

As Digital Transformation Consultant, you will manage the design and implementation of advisory services in the region with a focus on how to enhance our client’s productivity, improve operational efficiency, address knowledge gaps that can be solved through training on reskilling and upskilling, engage with innovative start-up ecosystems, and introduce new ways of working enabled by digital tools.

Main functions and responsibilities include

Digital Transformation strategy execution: Define customized digital client-centric proposals supported by new technologies based on our digital services offering, ensuring they align with client needs and our core mission.

Digital solutions proficiency and technology acumen: Provide working experience in the private sector corporate companies’ definition and implementation of digital solutions anchored in data analytics, digital platforms, and artificial intelligence, while having a profound comprehension of a spectrum of technologies, including RPA, IoT, drones, cloud, blockchain.

Alignment with IDB Invest’s core mission: Ensure that digital transformation strategies remain constantly committed to IDB Invest’s core mission, encompassing climate change, sustainability, social inclusion, and innovation.

Client engagement: Leverage your deep understanding of the LAC region’s distinct challenges and opportunities to formulate precise digital transformation strategies, creating tangible value and results in competitive advantages for our clients.

Technical Assistance projects leadership: Take charge of digital transformation projects from inception to completion, guaranteeing they exceed client expectations and achieve desired outcomes. Manage multiple priorities, working together with other internal teams to understand their needs, creating buy-in narratives for solution adoption, and building trusted collaborative relationships.

Develop and apply ideation and delivery methodologies: Emphasize design thinking and agile methodologies in project ideation and delivery.

Identify improvement opportunities: Continuously identify improvement opportunities in the product and services portfolio over time, based on industry trends and client feedback.

Startup ecosystem engagement: Hands-on experience in collaborating with startups or innovation ecosystems to support IDB Invest’s clients in engaging and creating a comprehensive set of digital solutions that address their needs. A good understanding of the Korean technology-based start-up ecosystem will be considered a plus.

Innovative opportunities identification: Identify new innovative opportunities for IDB Invest clients related to digital solutions, thinking outside of the box to design and deliver client-centric proposals.

User training and event participation: Support the organization and facilitation of user training activities and participate in internal and external events representing IDB Invest’s Advisory team.

Qualification and skills you’ll need

Education : You hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Business Administration, STEM, and/or other relevant sector related to digital transformation, like Tourism. An advanced master’s degree in business administration (MBA or equivalent) will be desirable.

Experience : At least 2 years of relevant professional experience related to the key responsibilities of the position and experience working within a team of specialists. You have a solid understanding of how technology-driven business models are disrupting incumbents across different economic sectors with specific interest in Agribusiness, Manufacturing and Banking industries. Familiar with open innovation and corporate entrepreneurship in LAC. Experience and skills in client relationships, as well as management consulting and technology strategy will be highly valued.

Core and Technical Competencies : The candidate for this position will be required to show on a daily basis the following skills: problem solving, leadership (including team management and project delivery), proactivity, intellectual curiosity, genuine interest on how technology can accelerate progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and a strong desire to be part of the IDB Invest Advisory Services Division.

Languages : Oral and written proficiency in English and Spanish is required; knowledge of Korean is a plus.

Communication : Fluency in English and Spanish. Ability to write clear and precise analytical documents and to adapt communication style to different audiences; demonstrated ability to contribute to multidisciplinary and multicultural project teams.
